In anticipation of the 7-10 inches that will halt New Jersey (amongst other states) in its tracks, here are some of the ways I will be spending the day(s).
1. Shoveling
Suburbia (as you can see from the photo above taken on our residential street) means shoveling in wintertime, especially if you've got a long, incline of a driveway like we do. However, I can't complain too much for the incorporation of squats + lifting isn't too terrible if one pays extreme attention to posture.
2. Exercise
I'm very fond of outdoor hikes, so a foot of snow or ice on the ground is quite deterring yet fun in itself. After all, the slipping around on black ice can be counted as additional cardio, no? But for days like these, leaving your house is a danger, so exercise is strictly indoors-only. Thankfully, YouTube is more than just cute loris videos and a venue to scope out new music.

3. Reading
I've heard the oft-repeated 'truth' that many people never pick up another book after college. While I admit that I'm currently succumbing to this trope, a snow day gives me the opportunity to circumvent this.
4. DVRing
I'm actually not a huge fan of watching television, especially live as I loathe wasting time. In fact, most of the shows I 'watch" I actually do so on my laptop, playing them in the background as I apply to jobs. It's for this reason why I'm fond of slow-burning shows that really build up to the action. Sometimes, there are instances where I need to watch things on a TV, and that's when a show is nearing its final season or sporting events. Justified is coming to an end this year, and as one of my favorite programs, the DVR has been working hard to store them for my future viewings. When is a better time to clean up the DVR than a snow day? Besides, I can also fast-forward through commercials (uh, I'm not really in the market for a Yukon Denali right now, unlike what I suppose most Justified viewers are?)!
6. Social Catch-ups
Facebook actually really isn't my thing either. It's nice to have an app that reminds you when your friends have birthdays as well as provide a method to access people whose emails you don't have, but aside from that, it's not too popular in my world. Heavy snowfall means I can finally thank everybody who wished me a happy birthday recently, and respond/reach out to people I haven't heard from in awhile.
